Portuguese Documentary Filmmaker, Assistant Director and Sound Designer from Lisbon.

With a background in Music, Management and Documentary Photography, I’ve always had curiosity – for learning a new skill, a new topic or a different story. When I was young, my grandfather’s love for cameras was the first step in filmmaking and the catalyst for a need to understand and explore why things, people and cultures were the way they are. Growing up, that meant an interest in History and Physics that now developed into an availability to dig deeper in my own questions and the topics that make me and the people around me less comfortable. My first short documentary ‘AMA DEO’ pays homage to Dêdê, my grandfather, questions my upbringing in a religious conservative reality and the relationship with older generations.

As an Assistant Director, my main goal is for everything to happen in a calm and efficient manner – from developing a shooting plan, doing SWOT analysis (based on the quantity and complexity of the shots, the time for prep and shooting, the needs and goals of the team and the intended result) and defining channels and tools of communication to solve problems efficiently.

As Sound Director and Sound Designer, I find it important to be involved in Pre-Production, developing the sound story and planning the best way to capture and be positioned during Production. Getting to understand the plot, characters intentions and how they process emotions, what this universe is like, where this space is, what it sounds and could sound like – all things that fascinate me and that I include in the process of soundscaping and sound designing.

Now that I’m back in Portugal, I’m eager to learn more about the industry here and continue to work and develop my skill as an Sound Designer and Assistant Director in a professional environment, as well as, develop my own films.
